Monday Tip: Set a Goal Then Let It Go

Monday Tip: Set a Goal Then Let It Go

I hope your 2023 is off to a good start. We all know this is the season for resolutions and goal-setting, but many end up falling apart by February. Why is that? Goals are important for moving you in the direction you want to go, but they need to be flexible. When you fixate on exactly what needs to happen, where and by when, it limits what’s possible.

Perhaps the way you get to your goal is different from what you envision, so if you narrowly focus on the outcome, you may pass up opportunities that will lead you closer to what you actually want.

Example: You want to get married this year (hint: that’s actually an outcome, not a goal). When you get deeper, you realize what you really want is to be in a loving, lifetime partnership with someone who loves you for you. THAT is the goal. How and when it happens is up to the universe.

TIP: Ask yourself if your goals are really outcomes. If so, go deeper to identify what you really want—the “why” behind them. Then, let them go. Let go of the when, the how, the where, the who. When you’re clear on what you want, but detach from the outcome, the universe might deliver way more than you ever imagined.

If you’re finding this tough to do, hit reply to set up a discovery call and talk about options, including my Mastery group program where we practice the art of letting go.
